Hey there cowpeople, it's time for the May Queer Country Monthly! This month is going to be a particularly incredible QCM. First of all, we have an amazing line-up: Glass Anchors, a reunion of the trailblazing Traveling Millies, and all the way from North Carolina, our old friends Humble Tripe with special guest Liz Kelly.
Plus, we'll be celebrating our beloved Branded Saloon's third birthday. And this is also the last QCM before we go on a summer break, so it will be this season's grand finale!
We start at 8:00 and the door is a $5, but no one ever turned away for lack of funds. Also, there is always a bucket of free candy for people who like candy.

Honing her songs in various bands over various years, soaring songstress Annie Sicherman brings us Glass Anchors. The songs on her fledgling EP are plaintive, reflective, honest, and good. Glass Anchors sounds best tearing up road (preferably dirt), the one to oblivion—right after you ended the longest relationship you ever had, the one you thought would last, the one with the proposal. That road can be in your head, but certainly Glass Anchors has the ability to take you there every time.

Durham NC based band Humble Tripe returns to the Queer Country Monthly stage bringing their own style of ruminative and romantic folk led by the sterling voice of Shawn Luby. Combining modern americana/folk/pop with the delicacy and movement found in their classical roots, Humble Tripe embraces the tender, capturing the liminality of love, exhilaration, and the many spaces in between.
The Travelling Millies
The weird aunts of country music, The Travelling Millies created a country-bluegrass firestorm in the nineties. Now they’re reuniting to fan the flames a bit more, once again turning lyrics topsy-turvy and singing and strumming their hearts out. Don’t miss seeing Donna Binder, Betsy Crenshaw, Linda Gui, Harriet Hirshorn,and Polly Thistlethwaite put on their boots again…and take the stage by storm!

The Antimessiah / The Death of Chris Iconicide = 20th Anniversary! 10pm
"ICONICIDE are a NYC based band whose sound has ranged from sludgy political dirges to blazing fast thrash, from toe tapping street punk to a lethal mix of dub reggae and death metal. Underlying it all has been what spurred frontman Chris (the Antimessiah) to start the band back in 1988: the stripped down, no nonsense, rip out your guts sound of Early 80s New York Hardcore. Lyrically ICONICIDE are just as uncompromising. Songs advocating human extinction (Voluntary Human Extinction MovemenT) coexist with assaults on militarism and power for power's sake (Fuck It), along with the requisite anti religious barrages (Whoreship, Benediction/Malediction, et cetera). In their long, checkered history, ICONICIDE have touched the fates of a long list of bands... Today ICONICIDE is tougher, more worldweary, and just as dangerous.
